6 hypersensitive SSLC exam centres identified in Mangalore

Mangalore, March 30: The Department of Public Instruction has established 95 SSLC examination centres all over Dakshina Kannada. The SSLC examinations are scheduled to commence on April 1. A total of 33,236 students are expected to answer these examinations. The district administration has made all the required arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the examination. A high-level meeting, chaired by S A Prabhakar Sharma, the additional district magistrate, reviewed these arrangements on Monday. 


The department has identified six SSLC examination centres in Mangalore as hypersensitive. These are Sacred Heart School, Kulshekar; Ganapathy PU College, Hampankatta; Government PU College, Ratha Beedhi; St Joseph’s High School, Jeppu; Capitanio High School, Kankanady; and Pompei High School, Urwa. Mr. Sharma instructed officials to be extra vigilant regarding the smooth conduct of the examinations in these centres. 


29,498 of the 33,236 students who are expected to answer their SSLC examinations this year are regular students, of whom 17,156 are boys and 16,080 are girls. 877 of these regular students are repeaters. 2,232 private students will also answer the examinations, and 629 of them are repeaters. Vigilance squads at the district and taluk levels have already been established and have been instructed about their roles during the examinations. 


Vishveshwara Hegde Kageri, the primary and secondary education minister, has already announced that students can take an additional 15 minutes to go through the question paper. The examinations will commence at 10:30 a.m., and students are allowed till 10:45 a.m. to go through their question papers. 


Mr. Sharma instructed education officials to keep the personnel informed about this change in the SSLC examinations.
