4 arrested for sandalwood smuggling

Mangalore, Jan 20: An SP special squad arrested 4 people for transporting sandalwood to Kerala illegally. The team confiscated 161 kgs of sandalwood worth Rs 5 lakhs. The operation was led by PSI Prakash. 

The arrested are Pradeep D’Souza (30) of Adyaru, Jayaraj (24) of Kankanady, Ranjith Preetham D’Silva (21), and Sridhar (28) of Markanja. They are accused of transporting sandalwood from Sakleshpur to Kerala. 

The raid was conducted by Probationary PSI Honnegowda and members of the SP special squad Anand, Ram Poojary, Bhaskar Kamath, Shinappa, Girish Suvarna, Chandrashekar, Sunil Kumar, David D’Souza, Shiva Naik, Mohammed Ikqal, and Rajendra Prasad.
