3 Chosen for Kantavara Puraskara Award

The “Kantavara Puraskara,” which is given annually by the Kantavara Kannada Sangh via the Mogasale Foundation, will be given away this year on November 1 on the occasion of the Kannada Rajyothsava to 3 significant people at the Pampa Mahakavi Auditorium of Kantavara Kannada Bhavan at 3:30 p.m. 

Prof Ramadas of Udupi, the renowned writer who has 7 anthologies, 7 plays, 6 radio plays, 4 novels, 2 collections of short stories, and 4 collections of critical reviews to his credit, is one of the 3 selected for the Kantavara Sahitya Puraskara. Prof Ramadas gained immense popularity for writing his biography, “Elenimbe.” He has already won prestigious awards such as Kadengodlu, Muddana, Perla Kavya Prashasti, Nataka Academy felicitation, Ugrana Prashasti, and many more. 

Bajakkala Ganapati Bhat, who has completely devoted himself to music, has been residing in Kanyana for the past 50 years. His knowledge of music is profound, and beginners have greatly benefited by his books “Abhyasa Ganavali” and “Prabahagana.” He has been selected for the Kantavara Lalitakala (Sangeetha) Award. 

Aruna Kumari Manipal, an MA in sociology, is an excellent classical musician and violinist and a renowned Veena exponent. She has a number of disciples and has performed in hundreds of programmes. She has been chosen to receive the Kantavara Lalitakala (Sangeetha) Puraskara. 

Harikrishna Punaroor, the former president of the State Kannada Sahitya Parishad, will confer the awards. K M Udupa, the managing trustee of Manipal Vikasa Bharatiya Trust, will preside over the programme. The disciples of Bajakkala Ganapathi Bhat will present a musical programme on this occasion.
