‘Yuva Sangam’ on Malpe beach to mark Vajpayee’s birthday

Udupi, Dec 24, 2014: The district unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will organise a programme titled ‘Yuva Sangam’ to mark the birthday of the former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee on Malpe beach here on December 25.

Addressing presspersons here on Tuesday, T.V. Hegde, president of district unit of BJP, said a variety of programmes such as tug of war, kabaddi, and body building competition would be held at the beach.

A competition will be held on painting the portrait of Mr. Vajpayee. A quiz programme will also be held on the occasion.

Artist Prasanth Shetty will paint an oil painting of Mr. Vajpayee in 30 minutes on the spot.

Cultural events

In addition, cultural programmes such as ‘Nritya Sinchana’ by Nritya Niketana troupe and a folk dance by Talent Group from Moodabidri will also be held.

B.S. Yeddyurappa, the former Chief Minister and Shimoga MP, will inaugurate the programme. Nearly 25,000 party workers and public were expected to participate in the programme, Mr. Hegde said.

BJP leaders Mattar Ratnakar Hegde, Yashpal Suvarna, Gitanjali Suvarna, Sandhya Ramesh and K. Naveen Shetty were present.
