Mangalore, October 17: Thenku Thittu Yakshagana, based in New Delhi, conferred the Yaksha Kalanidhi Award 2010 on two Yakshagana artistes at Town Hall, Mangalore.
The Yakshagana artistes Surikumeri Govind Bhat and Kumble Sundar Rao received Rs. 12,000, a citation, fruits, a memento, and a shawl each.
State Minister for Higher Education Dr. V. S. Acharya felicitated the two artistes and spoke in appreciation of their valuable contributions to Yakshagana.
A talk on “Maukika Abhivyakthiya Mahanayakaru” was delivered by folk art scholar Purshottam Bilimale.
Ramachandra Baikampady, S. K. Bhat and Vidhya Kolyur were also present.
