Youth meets watery grave in attempt to rescue drowning friend

Kundapur, May 5,2017 : In a tragic incident reported from Shadegundi near Shankernarayana on May 5, Friday, 19 year old Amogha Shetty lost his life in his efforts to save his friend from drowning  in the Kumbaramakki  lake.

Amogha Shetty The deceased youth was the son of Subbanna Shetty of Mudubage and   a student of Mother Teresa School at Shankeranarayana. He had recently appeared for the II PUC exams and even CET.

It is said Amogha who did not know swimming was watching his other friends swimming in the lake on Friday afternoon. Sources said a total of eight boys were  enjoying the swim.

The fun soon tuned tragic when one of the boys began drowning. When  others rushed to his help, Amogha too plunged into the  water only to get drowned while the other boys managed to  swim ashore.

Amogha’s  mother had died a few years ago and he stayed at his uncle’s house to pursue studies.
