Mangaluru, May 08, 2015: Today, it’s hundred years since the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi paid his first visit to Karnataka on May 8, 1915. The centenary celebrations of the Mahatma’s first visit is being celebrated by the Information Department across the state.
In Mangaluru, a function was held at the Information Department Office on Friday. Inaugurating the programme, District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Pradeep Kumar Kalkura stressed the need to follow the ideals propagated by the Mahatma. Gandhiji’s ideals of non-violence and mutual respect for different religions are relevant at all times.The present generation has the onerous responsibility of carrying forward the ideals of the Father of the Nation to the next generation and thereby help in building an India of Gandhiji’s dreams.
