Youth arrested for molesting 2 girls including minor at Konaje

Mangaluru, Feb 20, 2016 : In a shocking case reported from near Moodijera Cross  close at Konaje, a youth attempted to  molest  two girls  including a minor  on February 19, Friday evening.  He was duly  caught hold of by locals and handed over to the police. The incident took place close by the administrative block of Mangalore University.

The accused youth is Khaleel (21). He is said to be a resident of an area near Malar Mosque. He has been booked under POCSO Act.

In the first  instance, Khaleel had reportedly tried to embrace a 15 year old  girl  from behind  when she was returning after delivering some beedi packages at the local beedi branch. Though the girl managed to escape from his clutches, a little later ,  Khaleel tried to repeat his act with a 21 year old  woman  and grabbed her hand.  When the woman raised a cry, locals rushed to the spot and managed to trap Khaleel.

The incident sparked tension in the area as large crowds gathered.

Konaje police have registered a case and are investigating.
