Youth accused of raping young woman since 9 years; victim files complaint

Kundapur, Feb 5, 2015: A young woman hailing from Ardi village in Belve Gram Panchayat has accused a youth of Konjady of  raping her since the past nine years after falsely promising to marry her.

 

As per the complaint lodged by the young woman, the accused named Pradeep Naik of Barigadde in Konjady had first  raped her when she was just 15 and continued to do so since the past nine years, by making her believe that  he would tie the knot to her as soon as his sister gets married.

The girl’s complaint also stated that the youth had taken her in his motor bike to several pilgrim places like Murdeshwar,Subrahmanya and Dharmasthala.

 She also stated that when her parents came to know of the affair,  he approached the youth who once again promised to marry her.  But very soon he began to make fake promises like he would marry her after going on a pilgrimage to Shabarimale.

It is learnt, the girl had contacted the Shankernarayana police three months ago but did not lodge a complaint as they assured to settle the case through talks.  However, when nothing much happened, she lodged a complaint  with the help of Bhajrangdal leader Vijay Kumar Shetty Goliangady, Santosh Kumar Shetty, President of Abhimani Sports Club and Deepika Shetty, former Taluk Panchayat President.
