Mangalore, Mar 7, 2014: State Health and Family Welfare Minister UT Khader has defended Union Minister Veerappa Moily for supporting the implementation of Yettinahole Project.
Speaking to reporters at the District Congress Office in the city on March 7, Friday, Khader said “The Union Minister has backed the Yettinahole Project in the interests of the people of his constituency Chikkaballapura who will benefit from the project.”
Khader at the same time took a dig at former Congress MLA Vijaykumar Shetty and his followers who are fighting against the implementation of the project. “Where were these people when the project was cleared during the chief ministership of DV Sadananda Gowda?,” Khader retorted and even questioned the intentions behind their movement.
Continuing, he said the Congress government cannot be blamed for the project as it was only implementing the project cleared during the BJP tenure. “Had the people of the district opposed it then itself, the project would not have been implemented, Khader observed.
Khader who claimed that he had not made any contradicting statements on the project, also produced clippings of his conversation with the media men and farmers in Kolar. At the same time, he hesitated to make his stance clear on the project, when asked by scribes,.
