World Tobacco Day observed at Wenlock Hospital

Mangaluru May 31, 2016: Deputy Commissioner AB Ibrahim has expressed his deep concern over the increase in tobacco consumption in India when consumption of tobacco had a steep fall in neighbouring nations.
Addressing the World Tobacco Day programme at Wenlock Hospital on Tuesday May 31, he said that it is very painful to note that several youth are addicted to harmful drugs. He also stressed the need for stringent measures to check sale of tobacco products in the vicinity of schools.
In her presidential speech, Zilla Panchayath President Meenakshi Shanthigodu said that due to westernization culture youth are dragged into drug addiction in turn leaving them depressed throughout their lives.
ZP CEO Sree Vidya, Bar Association President SP Chengappa, ZP Vice President Kasturi Panja, Superintendent of Wenlock Hospital Dr Rajeshwari Devi and others were present.
