Mangaluru, April 5, 2016: CDAC Hyderabad in association with NITK-Surathkal and Mangaluru Police has organized one day workshop on “Information security awareness for law enforcement agencies” on Tuesday, April 5th, 2016.

The workshop organized with the support of ISEA project under Ministry of Communications and Information technology and in association of Karnataka State Police Department to provide awareness to police officers on combing cyber crimes and capability building.

Speaking on the occasion Police Commissioner Chandrashekar thanked  to CDAC for conducting the workshop and said ’Information technology is one of the greatest invention along with that people need to be careful while using the technology. Every citizen need to know vulnerability out of cyber crimes, poster also been circulated in to create awareness among the public.’ He released a poster on Cyber Crimes.

District superintendent of Police Dr SP Sharanappa said that, preventive measures need to be taken from the hackers as even after consistent awareness people are bamboozled with cyber crimes.

He requested people that, not to share any personal information and also password need to be changed in every three months, strong passwords need to put up so that Hackers will also fail to log in.

Director of CDAC K Mahesh said that, awareness need to be spread to the public as there is big threat of cyber crimes and criminals are getting even more innovative as we need to able to tackle such situations. Posters is circulated widely and put up in public places such as ATM’s, Schools so that it is easy to convey message to the public.

DCP Crime Dr Sanjeev M Patil, DCP Law and Order Shantharaju, Assistant Professor of NITK Dr. Alwyn M Pais, Dr Shanthi Thilagam were present.

The workshop witnessed a houseful participation of police personnel from Mangaluru as more then 70 officers attended.

Speaking about Forum Mall incident Police Commissioner Chandrashekar said that, five persons of Bhajrang Dal activist have been detained and investigation is in progress, Mall administration need to check in background of the worker before they recruit for the job.
