Woman beaten up, abandoned by husband dies in hospital

Puttur, July 8, 2015 : A 42 year old woman who was lying helplessly on the road in Uppinangady town a few days ago  after being allegedly mercilessly beaten up by her very own husband, has  breathed her last at the Government Hospital here on July 7, Tuesday.

The deceased woman is Dharnamma.  The woman who hailed from Hirebandady and was the daughter of late Pakira Gowda had married Shivakumar of Madikeri nearly eight years ago.

Though the couple initially stayed  in  the land which Dharnamma  got as a family property at Hirebandady, the couple later sold the land to Shivanna Gowda, the brother of Dharnamma. The two were since then residing with Shivakumar’s sister in Mysuru.

But for some reason, the couple were back in Uppinangady a few days ago and Shivakumar had brutally assaulted his wife and left her in a helpless state on the road.

The locals who saw the woman had admitted her to the hospital. Now that she has breathed her last, her brothers too have refused to  claim her body which is presently kept in the  Government Hospital morgue in Mangaluru.

Relatives of the deceased woman have been asked to contact the Uppinangady police station.
