Speaking about the problems faced by the NRIs, she said that the idea of working in the Gulf might sound attractive, but actually it isn’t. Those who go to the Gulf cannot return to their native land. Initially, they work because they want to get married, then they work for their families. They never work in the Gulf because they want to, but because circumstances have forced them to work in the Gulf. Money doesn’t come easily in the Gulf. Moreover, the climatic conditions are unfavorable to those who were born and brought up in India. The NRI men send money home after much hard work and sacrifice, but many women spend their husband’s money on luxuries. They hardly understand the pain of their husbands. Pointing out the fact that more than 75 percent of the women in malls are Muslims, she said that the community has become the victim of capitalization.

Vice Chancellor of Yenepoya University Dr. Syed Akheel Ahmed, President of Jamiyyathul Falah Mr. P. B. A. Razad; S. A. Siraj of Corporation unit of Jamiyyathul Falah; Vice President of Kuwait Kerala Muslim Association (KKMA) Abdul Hameed Mulky; and Ahmed Sharief of Kerala Muslim Association (KKMA) were the dignitaries on the dais.

Dr. Syed Akheel Ahmed said in his presidential address that change is essential for progress and called upon Muslims to change their attitude, mind set and perception, which will set them on the righteous path. He further said that Islam is the first religion to empower women, who are considered to be the guardians of culture and the main unit of the family. Saying that Islam condemns the acquisition of wealth, he explained that Islam preaches sharing of wealth.

Abdul Hameed Mulky, the vice president of KKMA, spoke about the organization and the various schemes designed by it for the welfare of the needy. P. B. A. Razak, the president of the DK and Udupi district unit of Jamiyyathul Falah, said that many NRIs are still struggling to improve the quality of their life. They are under stress, and domestic problems take away their peace of mind and happiness.

A workshop conducted by CIGI resource persons A. P. Nizam, Abdul Latif, and Mohammed Kunhi followed the stage programme. Khaled Ahmed, the general secretary of Jamiyyathul Falah, spoke about various issues such as effective parenting, motivation, goal setting, and family life. Abdul Latif and Mohammed Kunhi spoke about edutainment, memory techniques, accelerated learning, and much more.
