Will not bow down until justice is done, declare aggrieved parents of Sowjanya

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangaluru, Feb 14, 2017: "The CBI Court’s recent order directing further probe into the Sowjanya rape and murder case has  given us a ray of hope that justice would be done in the case," said  Kusumavathi and Chandappa Gowda, the aggrieved parents of  17 year old Sowjanya, a student of SDM  College who was  found raped and murdered on October 10, 2012.

Sowjanya case .

Speaking to reporters here on February 14, Tuesday, Sowjanya’s mother alleged that the police as well as the CBI had failed to   make a proper investigation and nab the real culprits behind the case. She also stated that her family would not bow to pressure and will continue its fight until justice  is done.

Sowjanya’s father Chandappa Gowda who also spoke alleged that a mentally unstable man called Santosh Rao who was arrested in connection with the case had  nothing to do with it. "Referring to the names mentioned by them in their complaint, he said the real culprits will have to be arrested.

Vishnumurthi Bhat, a social activist who also spoke   alleged that evidences have been destroyed in the  case by the police. "The investigation was misled by the then SP Abhishek Goyal and SI Yogish," he complained and demanded a brain mapping or lie detector test be done on the suspects in the case. He also described the case as pre-planned.

Pointing out that despite heavy  rain that day  when Sowjanya’s body was found neither her clothes or bag was wet. Her umbrella meanwhile was missing, he said.

"Dr Adam of Belthangady Hospital who conducted the post-mortem had to face pressure and  the bite marks found on Sowjanya’s chest were not mentioned in the post-mortem report intentionally," he said and complained that the post-mortem  was done in a haste.

It was also  alleged during the press meet that  SI Yogish Kumar’s initial appointment as the investigation officer in the case was wrong as   rules require an officer of the rank of circle inspector and above to investigate such serious cases.

"The call records received by the investigation officer  and others  soon after the crime will reveal the truth," Sowjanya’s parents said and alleged that the CBI officers too had harassed them during the course of the probe.

They also wanted to know why no officer, minister or women’s commission visited them to enquire about the case when  there have been many other cases when the Women’s Commission had taken up the case voluntarily.

Writer and activist Athrady Amritha Shetty and Robert Rosario, social activist were also present at the press meet.

Public support is always there with Sowjanya’s family and we will fight back all the hurdles. The police department as well as CBI has to be ashamed of this act . If their family member would have gone through the same what would be their response ?

Our eyes run down hearing about the incident and what Sowjanya must have faced at that moment of time . with all sch instances one question arises "Where is God ?Why is he silently watching these things? Is he there or not"?

Why have the CBI given the clear chit about the Heggade family? The girl’s family has to get justice. No one should ever dare to repeat such a heinous act in future .

What is the meaning of trust the police and CBI has to answer the family of Victim. Never give way for injustice treat the girl as own family member , just imagine the situation what the girl might have undergone .
