Mangaluru, June 17, 2019: Ramakrishna Mission (RKM),  Swacchata Abhiyan’s 28th Shramadan of the 5 th phase was carried out in Boloor area on June 16 forenoon. The shramadan was jointly flagged off by Brahmacharini Mangalamrita Chaitanya and  Chartered Accountant Ramanatha Nayak in front of Mata Amritanandamayi Math. On this occasion MCC Health Officer Ashwini, Damodar Bhat, Prashanth P, Suraj Solanki, Suresh Amin, A V Sugunan, Rajan, Prasadraj Kanchan, Smt. Shruthi Hegde and others were present.

Speaking on the occasion, Br Managlamrita Chaitanya said, “Unless the interior of a person is pure and clean, we cannot expect the exterior surroundings to be clean. Hence Awareness has to be created among public. This Abhiyan by volunteers is nothing less than Karmayoga. Its proud to see many youngsters and  volunteers dedicating their valuable time in spite of several other pressing engagements for such selfless endeavours as Abhiyan. Its good to see so many like-minded people and groups engaged in this single task of cleaning the nation.”

Cleanliness:
Ten dirty blackspots where public used to litter were identified on the road from Boloor Amritanandamayi Math towards Bokkapatna and they were cleaned today. About 8 teams were formed from the assembled volunteers. Dilraj Alva, Sudhir Vamanjoor, Balakrishna Bhat, Jayakrishna Bekal, Sandip Kodikal, Praveen Shetty, Bharath Sadananda, Avinash Anchan led these teams of volunteers. Along with household garbage, heaps of sand,  stones, plastic bags rubble were removed and cleaned. About 3 tippers loads of garbage were removed and cleared and decorative flower plants in pots were placed in the spots to prevent the people from littering there again. Team of Swacchata volunteers will watch the spots and prevent the litterers. Saritha Shetty and  Kodange Balakrishna Naik guided the volunteers in planting the saplings. Shubhoday Alva, & young activists visited houses from door to door in Boloor area urging the residents to keep their area clean. Ayudh team of volunteers of Mata Amritanandamayi Math actively participated in the drive.

Swacch Gram Abhiyan: Ramakrishna Mission Mangalore in association with Zilla Panchayat of DK and Udupi organised cleanliness drives in nearly 75 villages. Cleanliness on roads  drains, awareness programmes were conducted. Smt. Manjula of Swacch Bharath Mission of Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat and  Sri Sudhir, Coordinator of Swacch Bharath Mission of Udupi Zilla Panchayat coordinated these drives. MRPL is sponsoring these drives.
