Water bill payment issues, Gujjarakere woes highlighted at Mayor’s Phone-in programme

Mangaluru, Nov 23, 2017: Mayor Kavitha Sani’s Phone-in Programme as usual received a number of complaints regarding civic problems.

A caller named Abdul Rehman from Jeppu narrated his woes and said   it was becoming difficult to pay water bills in some bank branches which are hesitating to accept the bill citing software problem.   He  complained that Corporation Bank and Syndicate Bank branches at Jeppu were hesitating to accept wate bills forcing him to come all the way  from Jeppu to the Cororation bank Branch at Lalbagh. Responding to the complaint, Mayor said she would discuss the issue with bank officials.

Another caller complained that street lights from Kulai to Panambur  are turned off at 12 midnight making it diffuclt for those travelling late hours. The Mayor who opined that it was due to the problem in the timer attached to the electric pole assured to set right the same.

Yet another caller Vidya narrated the traffic problems near the Mahakalipadpu Railway gate mainly because vehicles  stop haphazardly on the road once the railway gate is closed. The Mayor promised to request the traffic  police in the area to look into the problem.

A citizen named Nemu Kotari complained that drainage water continues to seep into  Gujjarakere. Responding to this, the Mayor said  a Rs 3.5 crore project  to provide Under Ground Drainage has commenced  and added that the problem would be solved once the project is complete.

 Deputy Mayor Rajaneesh, Chief Whip Shashidhar Hegde and  Standing Committee  Chairperson Sabitha Misquith were present.
