Mangaluru, Sep 12, 2018: Speaking as the chief guest at a programme organised by Ramakrishna Mutt, Mangaluru, on September 11, Tuesday, to mark the 125th anniversary of the Chicago speech of Swami Vivekananda, Superintendent of Police Dr B R Ravikanthegowda said the period between 1861 and 1872 was a golden period of India as great person like Swami Vivekananda, Rabindranath Tagore, Mahatma Gandhiji and Sri Aurobindo elevated the value and love of India in many ways.
“The four stalwarts influenced the thought process of the country. Among these, Swami Vivekananda lived a shorter life but ignited spirituality and patriotism in the minds of Indians. His thoughts were directed towards the discovery of truth and the real inspiration behind his thoughts was his Guru Ramakrishna Paramahamsa,” he said.
“Swami Vivekananda proposed that along with rational and irrational thoughts, there is a thought process which is beyond rationality. He was the monk who went up to the common people,” Ravikanthegowda said.
Mangaluru Ramakrishna Mutt President Jitakamanandaji and former MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik were present.
