Mangaluru, Aug 30,2016: A Vittal resident who was travelling in the Matsyagandha train from Mumbai to Mangaluru has been robbed of jewellery, cash and other valuables on August 28, Sunday.
The incident occurred when Clifford Veigas (35) was returning to Mangaluru after dropping his wife in Mumbai as she had secured a bank job there. It is said during his return journey some co-passengers who were sitting beside Clifford had given him biscuits which were reportedly laced with sedatives. As soon as Clifford ate it, he fell asleep when his cash and valuables were robbed by the strangers.
When Clifford did not get up even after the train reached Mangaluru, other passengers intimated the railway officials who admitted him to the hospital.
A complaint is yet to be registered. The railway police are expected to secure the statement of Clifford once he recovers.
