Udupi, Sep 18, 2018: On Sept 17, Monday, K. Raghupati Bhat, MLA, said that the Vishwakarma Jayanti was not just a religious but also a social programme. He was presiding over the inaugural function of the Vishwakarma Jayanti organised by the district administration, zilla panchayat, and Department of Kannada and Culture, here.
MLA Bhat said that the government had organised the Vishwakarma Jayanti so that future generations could learn about Lord Vishwakarma and his teachings. The youth should participate in the celebrations. The Vishwakarma community was involved in the task of nation-building. Its contribution to society was invaluable.
Dinakar Babu, ZP president, inaugurated the programme. Chandrakanth Purohith, scholar from Hiriyadka, delivered a lecture on Vishwakarma Jayanti. Achievers from the Vishwakarma community, Janardhan Acharya Parkala, Ananthayya Acharya Perdoor, Neelayya Acharya Nitte, Parameshwara Acharya Basrur, Shashikala M. Acharya, were felicitated.
