Mangaluru, June 7, 2016: Mangaluru Police have detained one person in connection with Vinayak Baliga murder case, it is learned. The detained persons is said to be a Chartered Accountant connected with the Sri Venkatramana Temple, Car Street, Mangalore.
Meanwhile, it is learned that verdict on the anticipatory bail plea filed by the Naresh Shenoy, one of the prime accused in the case has been posted to 9th June by the Karnataka High Court. Police had issued look out notices for him and another accused Shrikanth. Both have been absconding for last two months.
Police have already made five arrests in connection with this case. One of them has availed bail, while others are in judicial custody.
The brutal murder of RTI activist Vinayak Baliga has been deemed to be a contract killing perpetrated for unknown motives. The investigation into the case is continuing under the personal supervision of city police commissioner M. Chandra Sekhar.
