Mangaluru, Oct 11, 2016: Several kids in Mangaluru entered the world of learning by scribbling their first letters on Vijayadasami day today October 11 Tuesday, to mark the culmination of the Navaratri festival.
Early this morning, children aged around two to three, along with their parents gathered at temples and cultural centers to perform the ’Aksharabhyasa or Vidyarambha’ ritual of writing their initial letters, invoking blessings of Saraswati, Goddess of Learning and Art.

Several parents had gathered with their kids at Mangaladevi Temple in Mangaluru for the process and entered the world of learning. Kalkura Pratistana was also organized the ritual at Manjuprasada Vairaja Mantap in Kadri.
On this auspicious day children were made to write Om on rice, there is a belief that children who are initiated into learning on the auspicious day of Vijaya Dashami would perform well in education and progress in life.
