Vandana Award to be conferred on Kadri Gopalnath

Mangalore, Mar 14: Rotarian Dr. B. Devdas Rai, the chairman of the Vandana Award committee, said that the prestigious state-level Vandana Award will be conferred on Padmashree Dr. Kadri Gopalnath in recognition of his significant achievement with the saxophone.


Addressing reporters at a press conference held in Hotel Woodlands on March 14, Monday, he said that the Rotary Club of Mangalore is jointly organizing the awards ceremony with Rotaract Club of Mangalore.

Regarding the Vandana Award, he said that the organization confers this award annually on achievers in recognition and appreciation of their outstanding achievements in their respective fields. The award comprises a silver plaque, a citation, a gold coin, a shawl, and a basket of fruits, he said.

He also said that the awards ceremony will be held on March 18, Friday at Eden Aquatic and Sports Foundation in Nanthoor at 8:00 p.m.

The chief guest will be Dr. K. N. Vijayaprakash, the commissioner of Mangalore City Corporation (MCC). The guest of honor will be Rtn. Usman Kukkady, the assistant governor. Rt. Herman Periera, the president of the club, will preside over the event and the felicitation speech will be delivered by the chairman of the award committee.
