Uppinangady, Dec 6, 2016 : The driver of a gas tanker sustained injuries while the cleaner escaped unhurt when the tanker which went out of control of its driver, overturned at Kadambu near Perne on the Mangaluru-Bengaluru National Highway on December 5, Monday afternoon. Luckily there was no gas leakage.
The injured driver is Alaguru Swami (30) of Tamil Nadu origin. He has been admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru.
The tanker laden with gas went out of control while the driver was negotiating a curve near the Rama Bhajana Mandir at Kadambu.
SP Bhushan Gulab Rao Borase, Additional SP Vedamurthi, Puttur MLA Shakuntala Shetty and others visited the spot. The tanker was later lifted using a crane. All precautionary measures were also taken to prevent any gas leakage. Experts as well as emergency vehicles were also pressed into service to ensure there was no harm to anyone.
