Udupi, May 5, 2015: Rajya Sabha MP Oscar Fernandes visited Udupi district unit of Indian Red Cross and gathered information on the activities of the organisation.
He announced a contribution of Rs 41 lakh from his MP fund, to establish a blood bank unit in Kundapur taluk. He lauded the Red Cross unit for being awarded with the best district unit four times.
He also took part in an interaction programme with the students of Barkur Rukmini Shedthi memorial College and Thenkanidiyuru Government First grade college and MSW students of the post graduation centre of the college, who have been doing work at the Red Cross.
Indian Red Cross Organisation Karnataka state President Basrur Rajiv Shetty, Bengaluru unit Executive committee member Balakrishna Shetty were present among others.
