Puttur, Jan 21, 2018: Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Suresh Prabhu inaugurated the Amenity Building of Central Arecanut and Cocoa Marketing and Processing Cooperative (CAMPCO) Ltd, located at its chocolate factory at Kemminje, Puttur on January 21, Sunday. The building spread over 42,000 sq ft has been constructed at a cost of Rs 13 crores with the objective of meeting the international food safety standards and zoning of processing area as per FSSAI.
In his inaugural address, the Suresh Prabhu said the Union and State governments were chalking out a scheme which would enable the farmers themselves to export their produce. He also lauded the role of co-operative societies in contributing towards the progress of farmers in rural areas.
A bust of CAMPCO Founder President Varanasi Subraya Bhat was unveiled on the occasion by Jyothindra Bhai Mehta, National President of Sahakara Bharathi.
A premium assorted gift box containing four variants of CAMPCO chocolate products, was released on the occasion.
The foundation stone for a master godown for arecanut, pepper and rubber to be opened at Kavu in Puttur taluk, was laid by MP Nalin Kumar Kateel.
CAMPCO Chairman S R Satishchandra presided over the function. Managing Director of CAMPCO Suresh Bhandary, MLA Shakuntala Shetty, ZP Chief Meenakshi Shantigodu and others were present.
