She said: “I had sacrificed my chief minister post for hoisting tricolour in Idga Maidan in Hubli in 1994. I wouldn’t regret for my action. Now, with the same conviction I would protest against the power project.”

Stating that Karnataka state holds special significance in her life, she said she was given ‘Sanyasa Deeksha’ by her Guruji (Pejawar seer) on November 17, 1992 at the age of 32. “I share a very special relationship with my Guruji who is like my father and also guru. Besides, the state has been the witness for many turning points in my life,” she said.

On returning to BJP

Uma Bharati said only BJP national president Nitin Gadkari could answer queries on her return to BJP. During her visit to the Krishna temple in Udupi, the former BJP leader dodged questions from the reporters on the speculations about her joining the BJP. She said her stand on the issues of Ayodhya and Women Reservation Bill wouldn’t change.  Uma Bharati said: “I will be the fraction of ‘Mandal and Kamandal’.”

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and AICC President Sonia Gandhi should convene an all-party meet on the issue of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, on the lines of construction of Somanath temple in Gujarath by the then government, she added. Dhns
