Udupi, Sep 09, 2015: As per reports, Union government has appointed Udaya Kumar Shetty, a native of Udupi, as Joint Secretary and Legislative Counsel in the Union Ministry of Law and Justice. He belongs to 2003 batch Indian Legal Service.
A native of Heggunji village in Udupi district, Shetty earlier had served as a lecturer in Vaikunta Baliga College of Law, Udupi. He has a degree in Law from Mangalore University and Master of Law in Labour Laws from University College of Law, Bangalore University.
He is a past student of Shri Durga Parameshwari High School, Mandarthi, National Pre-University College, Barkur, Udupi. He joined the Ministry of Law and Justice as Assistant Legislative Counsel and served in different capacities in the Ministry of Law and Justice. He also served as Law officer in the Law Commission of India.
