Udupi, April 16, 2016 : Various road projects costing nearly Rs 7 crore were initiated in Katapady, Shirva and Kaup on April 15, Friday. The foundation for the same was laid by Udupi District in-charge Minister and State Minister for Urban Development Vinay Kumar Sorake and Rajya Sabha MP Oscar Fernandes. Road works worth Rs 2 crores will also be taken up in Karkala and Udupi.
Speaking on the occasion, Sorake stated that a road work taken up at Shirva under the Namma Grama Namma Raste Project is already complete at a cost of Rs 3 crore. He also stated that the government would make all necessary arrangement to provide essential facilities to the people.
Benefits under various government schemes were also distributed to beneficiaries on the occasion.
Juliet Pereira, President of Katapady Gram Panchayat, Shubha, President of Kurkalu GP, Gitanjali Suvarna, ZP member and others were present.
