Udupi, Aug 06, 2015: Speaking at the district Congress party meeting  here on Aug 5, District in-charge Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake said that lack of co-ordination among Congress members was the reason behind party’s debacle in gram panchayat elections.

Vinay Kumar So...Expressing disappointment that booth-level party workers were distanced from  leaders at higher-level.  The minister said that so called leaders should pay visits to the booths regularly and build rapport with the workers. He also said that the party was unable to get sufficient number of members in the membership drive.

He said that party workers should work at booth-level to strengthen the party. He added that the unity among the Congress members should reflect in the forthcoming taluk panchayat elections. He urged the partymen to be the transmitters of various development works taken up by the government.

He said that people were fed up with BJP-led NDA government. The Central government has disappointed the people who brought BJP to power. The party has utterly failed to keep up the promises it had made in its poll manifesto. The prime minister is always touring foreign countries and is far from  the situation in India,  Sorake added.

He said that State government had introduced many welfare programmes for the poor. The welfare schemes are effectively implemented. The Varahi irrigation project which was neglected for the past 35 years will soon be a reality. He added that the government had waived loans of as many as 5,000 people residing in Ashraya houses in Byndoor and Kundapur.   The 94CC programme is also being initiated.

He said each constituency is being assured Rs 18 crore under ’Namma Grama Namma Rasthe’ scheme. The fishermen protest makes on sense as the community leaders, who led a delegation to CM, had agreed to the remitting of tax exempted amount to the respective bank accounts from August 1.

MLA Pramodh Madhawaraj said that election observers for every constituency should be appointed before the elections are held for taluk panchayat and zilla panchayats.
