Udupi, Mar 26, 2014 : BJP candidate from Udupi Chikmagalur constituency Shobha Karandlaje filed her nomination papers at the DC office on March 26, Wednesday. She was accompanied by Legislators  Sunil Kumar,  former minister CT Ravi, Udupi District BJP President Tingale Vikramarjun Hegde and former MLA Suresh Kumar.

Speaking to the media men later, Shobha assured to be the voice of the women voters  who are in majority in the constituency. She also promised to raise vital issues pertaining to the constituency in the Parliament if elected MP.

Claiming that there was a Modi wave in the nation,  Shobha said the whole nation was waiting to see Narendra Modi as its prime minister.

She also stated that the mood of the party workers was upbeat and they would strive hard for her victory.

Shobha refuted  allegations of former KJP leader Dhananjaya Kumar that  Karkala MLA Sunil Kumar and CT Ravi who were earlier key contenders for a ticket from Udupi were conspiring against  her and said  she would win by a margin of 1.5 lakh votes.

BJP workers convention :  BS Yeddyurappa, former CM and BJP candidate from Shimoga LS seat was one of the prominent leaders who participated in a BJP workers convention held at Sheshayana Hall earlier in the day.

Yeddyurappa was confident of a BJP win from the constituency. He said surveys have revealed that the party would win at least 20 out of the total 28 LS seats.

He was critical of the Congress government for stopping several of the welfare schemes initiated by him.

BJP candidate Shobha Karandlaje in her address, was all praise for the BJP PM candidate Narendra Modi and added Modi has to be the prime minister if the nation has to prosper and women  have to be empowered.

Chikmagalur MLA CT Ravi, Karkala MLA Sunil Kumar and others spoke on the occasion. Raghupathi Bhat, former MLA, Yuvaraj, Shivashanker and others were present on the occasion.

Vasant Salian, a former Congress and JD(S) leader, N Ramakrishna, Harsha Mendon,  and several others joined the BJP during the convention.
