Udupi Julyu 03, 2016 : Minister of State for Fisheries, Youth Services and Sports, Pramod Madhwaraj, said that the State government would try to formulate a sports policy. He was speaking after inaugurating six class rooms constructed under the Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan at Volakadu Government Composite High School, here. Minister Madhwaraj said that it was necessary to provide educational benefits to students who were achievers in sports.
He would try to extend the National Service Scheme, which was presently there in colleges, to high school levels.
He wanted all 35 municipal wards in Udupi city to have a public library. The library for the Volakadu ward would be started at this school, he said
Nirmala, headmistress of the school, welcomed the gathering and delivered the introductory remarks. Rooparekha, teacher, proposed the vote of thanks. Meenakshi Madhav Bannanje, President of Udupi City Muncipal Council, Nalini Rao, President of Udupi Taluk Panchayat, Geeta Ravi Shet, municipal councillor, Indu Ramananda Bhat, Vice President of School Development and Management Committee, were present.
