Udupi : DNA test proves brother raped minor sister; accused arrested

Udupi, Feb 10, 2016 : A 22 year old youth has been arrested  by the Malpe Police and booked under POCSO Act on the charges of raping  his minor sister. The arrest has been made almost five months after the rape case came to the notice of the family.

Though then no one was aware as to who was the culprit, the DNA test of five suspects eventually pointed fingers towards the brother.

The accused has been identified as Sridhar (22).  It has been gathered that the youth has admitted his guilt and that he had  been raping his sister since June last year.

Sources said the fact that the 14 year old girl  hailing from Nejar near Santhekatte  was raped came to light only after she had become pregnant.

The poor Dalit family of the girl had subsequently aborted the foetus. It is learnt, the girl had never revealed the name of the culprit following which a DNA test of the suspects was made.

The accused has been produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody till February 27.
