Udupi: Confidence in farmers to better with contact programme - Minister Sorake

Udupi, Nov 10, 2015: Speaking to mediapersons at the tri-monthly Udupi dist KDP review meet Nov 9, District In-Charge Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake said, contact programmes will be held across the district to instil confidence in farmers.He stressed awareness will be created among farmers about various schemes and projects of the govt.

Vinay Kumar So..."The first farmer contact programmes will be organised at Kaup on November 15 in coordination with Agriculture, Horticulture, Revenue, Small Irrigation and Watershed Departments," the minister added. He said the concerned officials have been directed to create awareness among people about deemed forest at gram sabhas. The Revenue and Forest Department has taken up joint survey to ascertain the area of deemed forest in the district.

"Under 94C, a total of 24,000 applications have been received seeking regularisation of the encroached government land. The surveyors are appointed and the encroachments in kumki, deemed forest, buffer zone and paramboku land will be largely excluded," he added.

Briefing about the development works he said, 14 public distributions shops were planned, of which 11 are already set up. Of the total 44,270, a total of 33,772 BPL applicants given LPG connections and 34 constructions works taken up under Rastriya Madhaymika Shiksha Abhiyan will be completed by March. The minister added that Rs five crore plan has been chalked out to repair damages in the Varahi canal and the plan will be approved in a week and five beaches namely, Padubidri, Kaup, Malpe, Kodi and Maravanthe will be developed at a cost of Rs 9.13 crore released by the central government.

"Those extractig sand are instructed to supply sand for locals at subsidized rates. The committee headed by the deputy commissioner has sent a proposal for single window policy for coastal stretch over sand extraction," he informed.

The minister said that the DPR for Shivamogga-Agumbe and Shivapura-Agumbe road is prepared and 43 works under PMGSY are undertaken.

Stating that the State-level Prathibha Karanji will be held on Dec 16 and 17 at Kaup, he said said, children parliaments will henceforth be held compulsorily at gram sabhas and added that under Karnataka Darshan programme, 450 high school students are to benefit.
