Udupi Bishop inducts Ursuline nun as Secretary - pathbreaker

Udupi, June 12, 2014:  The Bishop of Udupi Rt.Rev.Dr.Gerald Lobo in a path breaking appointment has inducted Ursuline Franciscan Sister (UFS)  Pramitha Cutinha as his Secretary.

Sr Pramitha Geetha Cutinha : Born in 1983, hails from Bola Parish ( St Lawrence Church Bola), she was first professed in the UFS congregation in 2007 and final profession in 2013. From a devout Catholic family of 4 children, she is the eldest; Her younger Sister Preethi Cutinha also is a UFS Nun. After her graduation from St.Aloysius Mangalore, Served in Lourdes High School Bejai and St Michael’s PU College Hubli in an administrative capacity. According to all who know her she is  Soft spoken, very obliging, cheerful, easy to approach, service minded, trustworthy,  hardworking, pleasant to interact.

Normally priests are appointed as secretary to Bishops and it is the first known instance in this region for a nun to be inducted. However, it is seen that this progressive Bishop of Newly created Udupi diocese which in the thick of catholic hinterland is dedicated to empowering the laity and women in appropriate ways. Earlier he had appointed Sr. Lydia Mendonca BS,  Congregation of Sisters of Bethany as the Treasurer of the diocese, a very sensitive position. Indeed such actions will go a long way to transform the mindset of the people.
