Mangalore, April 5, 2017: MMA,Mangalore Management Association is set to hold a talk titled, "Top managament Resource:  Employees" by visiting US based Dr. Austin D’Souza Prabhu,  MBA, PhD, Former Gen. Manager,  Deltrol Fluid Products, Chicago, USA. on April , 2017,  Thursday at  6 PM, at SDM Law College, MG Road, Kodialbail, Mangaluru.  The talk is expected to draw serious attention from many quarters in the city.

 About the speaker :  Dr.Austin D’Souza Prabhu:

Austin was born in Nanthur, Mangalore on 8 th August 1950, after his schooling he earned a B.A. degree from Mysore Open University, he was involved in several activities in Mangaluru and Mumbai.  In Mangaluru Austin took to journalism as a fish to water and became the youngest editor of 4 magazines at the age of 23, to the disappointment of his father.


Austin was the Mangalore Diocesan President of Catholic Youth Movement for 6 years of undivided DK and Kasargod Taluk, Founder Secretary for Konkani Bhasha Mandal, ® Karnataka, Secretary of Konkani Natak  Sabha, Mangalore. He founded “Kala Sampath” – a cultural and sports organization in Mangalore. He was the Dist. General Secretary of Yuva Janata Party in 1977. For livelihood he worked as a Medical Representative. 

In September, 1981 Austin migrated to U.S.A. and has been in Chicago since then. He earned an MBA and Ph. D, both from Pacific Western University, Los Angeles, U.S.A.  He has Six Sigma Green Belt and Lean Manufacturing Certificates from Northern Illinois University.  His long stint was at Deltrol Fluid Products – an engineering firm in various capacities and retired from the post of General Manager in August 2016.

Dr. Austin was the member of St. Bernadine Parish Council, Forest Park Neighborhood Watch, Friends of the Library, Forest Park Chamber of Commerce, Main Street and Forest Park Citizens Police Academy.  president of Indian Catholic Association of America, Secretary of Federation of Indian Associations in Mid-America, Treasurer of The Federation of Indo-American Christian Associations of North America, Director of New Republic of India, His biography is published in several national / international  magazines and websites including Who’s Who in the World by Marquis, USA.

Austin received ‘Millennium Leadership Award’ from Federation of Indian Associations. He received “Asian American Hall of Fame” award for Community Service. Received Chicago Mayor’s Award for his project – “Vision First” – in which provided more than 55,000 pairs of eyeglasses to Chicago Public School System students. Austin’s family received Asian American Humanitarian Family of the Year 2005 Award from Asia TV Chronicle. Received “Life Time Community Service Award” from the President of the United States, George Bush in 2007. In 2009 Austin and his wife were bestowed with “Chicago’s Prestigious Couple” award.

 In Lionism,  Dr. Austin took root  in Padil Lions Club, Mangalore way back in 1978 and in the US he  continued his service. He was the first ever person of Indian origin to rise to the position of District Governor of Lions  Dist. 1A (Mother District of Lionism, Chicagoland). Once again he became the Governor of Lions 1A district in  2014. Austin received numerous Lions International awards including International Presidents Leadership  Awards, International Presidents Medals, New Member Key Award, Melvin Jones Fellowship Award, Lions Clubs International Foundation Honor Roll, and so on.  During his tenure as District Governor, he chartered 5 new clubs, Vision First program and Lions Open University to train leaders. He is also a certified Faculty Development Instructor for Lions Clubs International.  He organized and presented numerous presentations to Industries, Lions clubs, Districts, Multiple Districts, USA  and Canada Leadership Forum and for International Conventions.  In Chicago.

 Austin founded Broadview Kala Sampath Lions Club, USA; Kala Sampath Cultural Association,  Chicago; Mangalorean Konkan Christian Association, USA. Back home, Austin has written several stage plays, radio plays for All India Radio, Mangalore. He has 6 to his credit published in Konkani.  Austin is happily married to Teresa Pinto and the couple have 4 children – all are highly educated and well placed. 

His talk here in Mangaluru on Thursday April 6, evening , will be very valuable and a welcome is extended to all concerned to grasp this golden opportunity.
