Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, 28 April 2015: Two youths who allegedly swindled lakhs of rupees from several persons by promising them job overseas through Facebook have been arrested by Kerala Police in Kozhikode.

facebook-cheatPolice arrested Mithun(28) of Moonnampeedika, Kannur and Joseph Xavier(30) of Monippally, Kottayam, from Bannerghatta in Bengaluru.

Hundreds of job-seekers from Mangalore, Kerala and Mumbai fell prey to the fraudsters after they posted an advertisement on Facebook seeking BSc and nursing graduates for appointment in Qatar, Oman and Saudi Arabia.

The arrested persons asked those applicants to deposit Rs 10,200 as the fee to get their pro metric certificate ready. They promised that the certificate would be ready within 15 days of the receipt of the amount after an online test. They took the doubtful clients into confidence by giving address of some companies in Bangalore and asking them to remit the fee there directly.

However, many of those who paid the amount realised about the cheating when there was no response for months after the payment.
After some residents of Kozhikode filed complaint against suspicious online job racket police sung into action.
