No sooner the MCC was informed, Mayor Kavitha rushed to the spot along with officials and three vehicles were immediately pressed into service to clear the blockage in the drainage. It was later learnt that the waste oil dumped in the drainage by several hotels in the area, resulted in the problem mainly because oil do not get  mixed with water. Traffic on the busy road was also affected due to the problem which was soon resolved.

The Mayor has also informed that officials have been instructed to issue notices to the hotels concerned and to ask them to refrain from throwing used oil into the drainage.
