Two arrested, illegal pelts seized in city

Mangaluru, Sep 24, 2019: Acting on a tip-off, Mangaluru Special Police Forest Mobile Squad personnel arrested four men and seized two blackbuck pelt and a pair of horns near the KSRTC bus stand in Bejai on Sept 23, Monday.


The blackbuck pelts were brought to the city for sale.  Catching sight of the forest officials, four men – Ravi Hanumanthappa (32) and Mallappa (32) of Datanal in Navalgund in Dharwad; Tipu Sulthan alias Munna (33) of Sevalal Nagara, Gadag; and Parashuram Lamani (32) of Sevalal Nagara – attempted to flee from the place, but were arrested on the spot.

The men were arrested under the Wildlife Conservation Act and handed over to Mangaluru range forest officials for further action.

On the direction of DCF Karikalan, Mangaluru RFO Sridhar had filed a case and was investigation into it.
