Mangaluru, Feb 1, 2015 : A colourful ceremony was organised at the Forum Fiza Mall here on January 31 Saturday to present the first ever Tulu Cinemotsava Awards. Renowned Tulu theatre personality KN Tailor and Sanjeeva Dandakeri along with other dignitaries lighted the lamp marking the inaugural of the function.

Movies “Rickshaw Driver” and “Nirel” bagged the Best Film Awards for the year 2012-2013 and 2014 respectively. The Best Actor(Male) went to Shivadhwaj while Pakhi Hegde was adjudged the Best Actor(Female) for their roles in ‘Bangarda Kural’ Movie. The awards were given for the year 2012-13, while the 2014 Award in the two categories went to  Venkatadri (Brahma Shree Narayana Guru) and Ramya Baarna (Madime).

Eminent Tulu  theatrical personality KN Tailor and Sanjeeva Dandakeri bagged the Life Time Achievement Awards while the Emerging Actor Awards went to Arjun Kapikad and Dikshitha Acharya.

The Best Film Award in Viewers’ Choice Category also went to “Rickshaw Driver.” Arjun Kapikad and Neha Saxena were given the Best Actor Awards in this category for the year 2012-13.


For the year 2014, the Best Film Award in Viewers’ Choice Category went to ’Chaali Polilu.’ The Best Actor Award in this category for 2014 went to  Naveen D Padil while Divyashree won the Best Actor(Female) Award.

  Adolphus Cutinha, popularly known as Dolla, Vinni Fernandes, Kasargod Chinna, Altaf Hussain and late Wilfy Rebimbus were honoured for the contribution to film, music and theatrical fields.

Prominent among those present included Mahabala Maarla, city Mayor, Shashidhar Hegde, former mayor,  Tennis Krishna, noted comedian, Walter Nandalike of Daijiworld and film maker Sandeep Malani.
