Trio detained for cheating with "Gold" deposits worth several lakhs

Kasargod, Sep 30, 2014: According to information received, a trio of confidence tricksters has been arrested allegedly for mortgaging "gold" that was purely a make believe fake with banks and non-banking financial institutions and cheated them of several lakhs of rupees.
The trio of culprits are identified as, resident of Palakkad Kongat, Zakir Hussain(42), Kiyur resident living in Ariyal, I Hassan(36) and Ibrahim Harris alias Patla Harris(40), resident of Patla. Kasargod Dy SP T Ranjith heading a police team, arrested the suspects.
A private finance company in Cherkala who sold the deposited ’gold’ to a Trissur resident turned out to be fake according to investigations. A complaint was lodged with Kasargod police in this regard. Police have stated the suspects cheated parties in Koyikkode, Kannur, Trissur, Palakkad, Vaynad, Malappuram and other places.
