Subrahmanya, July 3, 2014 :Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel has said that trains will be given a stop at Edamangala railway station from June 5 onwards thereby fulfilling a longstanding demand of the people of the area.
He was speaking to reporters after visiting Harihara Pallatadka Sri Harihareshwara Temple during the course of his Grama Darshana programme in Guttigaru ZP limits on Wednesday July 2.
Edamangala is the only railway station in the railway line passing through Sullia, he said and added that the stopping of trains at Edamangala would be a boon to people of Sullia.
To a question on the Edamangala-Kanhangad Railway Project, he said the survey is in progress up to Kerala borders.
The MP also informed that a demand has been placed forth to develop the Subrahmanya Cross (Nettana) railway station into a model station. The issue has been discussed with local MLA and the Railway Minister has been requested to include it in the forthcoming budget.
