Tragedy in Kundapur: 8 school children die, 11 injured as Omni, pvt bus collide

Kundapur, June 21, 2016: Eighth school children have lost their lives and 11 others were injured in a tragic road mishap involving a Maruti Omni van and a private bus at Mohadi Cross near Trasi on June 21, Tuesday morning.

Initial details state that the two vehicles collided head on resulting in the tragedy. Students of the Don Bosco School were on way to their school in the Maruti Omni while the bus was heading towards Kundapur from Byndoor.

It has been gathered that two children died on the spot, while five others breathed their last while being rushed to the hospital. The injured include the driver of the Maruti Omni. Some of the injured are being treated in a local hospital while others are being taken to Manipal Hospital.

Bus driver Manju, conductor Shanker have been arrested. Injured have been identified as omni car driver Martin, Deekshith (4th Std), Vinora (5th Std), Melissa, Veera (10th Std), Liesel (1st Std), Rosten (3rd Std), Clarissa (1st Std) and Alvita (2nd Std).

SP Annamalai visited the hospital, Gangolli police have registered a case.

At least after this accident the people renting the van for school trips must have the limit for hiring the children and have speed limit . Very sad. RIP to all the who have been killed in the accident.
