Traffic violations in Mangaluru, citizens’ may report on WhatsApp

Mangaluru, May 19, 2018: Traffic violation to report? Now you can do it by contacting a dedicated phone number. On May 18, Friday, Mangaluru City traffic police launched a number, ‘9480802303,’ to report any kind of traffic violations across its commissionerate.

Vipul Kumar, city police commissioner, along with other senior police officers, launched the facility. Addressing the media about the need of a single number to report traffic violations, he said it was earlier reported in various platforms of the Mangaluru City police commissionerate. “Ever since I took charge as the commissioner, I learnt that the city is battling with traffic related issues. However, there was no proper redressal system to report it. So, I have decided to launch an exclusive number, which will be operating round the clock,” said Vipul.  He added that citizens can use WhatsApp or call to inform about the violations.   Though the police earlier had “Kudla Traffic” number on 9480802312, the new number is exclusively meant to deal with traffic issues. 


No permission for motorcycle rallies in city limits  :  Vipul Kumar made it clear that no one in the city limits will be allowed to take out motorbike rallies for any reason, be it a protest or victory celebrations. “We have taken this decision so that the common man is not at the receiving end of such activities. Moreover, during most motorbike rallies, traffic rules are blatantly violated, where the rider or pillion riders don’t wear helmets, three people ride on a single two-wheeler and riders make a racket by blowing horns. If anything goes wrong, lives are lost. We will hence not allow motorcycle rallies,” he stressed.
