Traffic restrictions during Rahul Gnadhi visit to city : Commissioner R Hithendra

Mangalore, April 4, 2014:  R Hithendra, Mangalore City Police Commissioner has informed that there would be traffic diversions in the city on April 4 when Congress Vice Preident Rahul Gandhi will be visiting the city and addressing a rally.

Speaking to reporters here on April 3,  The Police Commissioner said  parking of all vehicles have been banned at Circuit House until Rahul Gandhi and his entourage leaves the place. Also parking of vehicles  within a radius of 500 meter from the venue of the programme is also prohibited.   Movement of vehicle along the route where Rahul Gandhi and his entourage will pass through will be banned when the entourage is passing by.

As far as parking arrangements at the function venue is concerned, only vehicles with pre-approved  VIP passes will be allowed and parking can be made at Taluk Panchayat premises and surrounding areas. However, the police vehicles, VIP vehicles and emergency service vehicles will be exempted from the rule.

Referring to the corporator Pratibha Kulai harassment case, the Commissioner said two of the five accused have been arrested and produced before the court. The Commissioner said one of the accused is a minor who is also accused in some other cases.

On the suspicious death of a medical student Rohit at Tannirbavi beach road, the Commissioner said an FIR has been registered as the family has claimed it to be a murder. He also assured thorough probe into the case.

The Commissioner who also spoke about the huge cache of explosives in Karkala said the NIA has been requested to probe the case.
