Udupi,July 5,2017: The traditional  ritual of “Tapta Mudra Dharana” was held at the Sri Krishna Mutt/Temple Udupi on July 4, Tuesday.   A large number of devotees took part in the ritual.

Tapta Mudra

Vishwesha Tirtha Swami of Paryaya Pejawar Mutt and Vishwaprasanna Tirtha, junior seer of the Mutt, stamped the images of “shankha” (conch) and “chakra” (wheel) on the chest and arms of the devotees.

These seals were earlier heated at the “Sudarshana Homa” held at the temple. The “chakra” is stamped on the right arm, while the “shanka” is stamped on the left arm.

In the case of women, the seals are stamped only on their arms.

This ritual is held on the “Prathama Ekadashi” or “Sayani Ekadashi”. A “Tapta Mudra Dharana” programme was also held at the Shiroor Mutt, where Lakshmivara Tirtha Swami of Shiroor Mutt, stamped the figures of “shanka” and “chakra” on the devotees.
