Toll collection on NH 66: Meet decides to maintain status quo

Udupi, August 19, 2018:  A meeting held  here on Saturday under the presidentship of Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Mary  Francis has decided to maintain status quo on the issue pertaining to collecting toll from local vehicles at the toll booths on the National Highway 66  until the first week of October.  It may be mentioned here that presently toll is not being collected from local vehicles at the toll booths at Sasthan and Hejamady.

Members of the Action Committee took exception to the collection of toll even before the NH works were complete. Even several members of the general public as well as elected representatives aired their views on  the issue.

Initially,  the meeting failed to arrive at any conclusion in the absence of senior officials of Navayuga Company, the contract agency as well as the Project Director of NHAI.

Later Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis, SP Lakshmana Nimbargi, and others held  telephonic talks with senior officials of Navayuga.

Kota Srinivas Poojary, MLC, Pratap Shetty, Alwyn Andrade of the Action Committee and others were present.
