Mangaluru, March 10, 2016 : The builders of Mangaluru have claimed that the threatening and extortion calls which they used to receive in the past have reduced significantly following the arrest of notorious underworld don Bannanje Raja in February last year.
Speaking to reporters here on March 10, Thursday, P.M.A. Razak of Plama Builders said the builders were thankful to the Police Department for arresting Bannanje Raja and bringing him to India.
He was also appreciative of the Mangaluru Police Commissioner Chandra Sekhar in tackling criminal elements and controlling crime.
K.C. Naik of Mahabaleshwara Builders said the Department could apprehend Bannanje Raja due to the combined efforts of former IGPs Gopal Hosur and Pratap Reddy, former CCB Inspector Venkatesh Prasanna, present CCB Inspector Valentine D’Souza and the former Mangaluru Police Commissioner R Hithendra.
Loknath Shetty of Bharath Builders was also present.
It may be recalled here that Bannanje Raja was apprehended in Morocco in August last year and was subsequently brought to India. Presently, investigations are underway into 16 out of the total 44 cases against him.
