Puttur, July 16,2016 : Thieves who broke into a jewellery shop and a bakery at Nelyady town during the wee hours of July 15, Friday have decamped with cash and valuables worth over Rs 5.5 lakhs. As both the shops had CCTVs police could gather information that the burglaries were the handiwork of two thieves.
Thieves who made their way into the G Gold Shop at Alisha Complex have stolen seven kg silver, precious stones weighing one kg and a Samsung mobile phone, all worth nearly Rs 5.5 lakh. However, they couldn’t break open the safe locker in the showroom.
Thieves who also broke into the Sharada Bakery and Juice Centre which is located opposite to the jewellery showroom have stolen Rs 8,000 apart from eatables and cold drinks. The entire theft has been recorded in the CCTV camera inside the shop though the one kept outside was removed by the thieves.
ASP Rishwanth and other police officials visited the spot. Investigations are underway.
