Thieves loot three persons in Udupi, Manipal

Udupi, Sep 19, 2020:    Three cases of looting  have been reported from Manipal and Udupi police station limits during the wee hours of Saturday. Police suspect the handiwork of the same group behind all the three incidents.

Two bike borne unidentified assailants  have targeted Manipal Polytechnic  Lecturer Dharanendra, Manipal Press employee, Udyavar resident Yatindra and a fish worker Nitish from Alevoor and have snatched their mobile phones and cash. Meanwhile Dharanendra and Yatindra have suffered injuries as  the  thieves had attacked them with  knives when they resisted.

Dharanendra who was on way  towards his home at Manipal after alighting from the Bengaluru train when he was  waylaid by the  assailants  and robbed of Rs 2,000 cash apart from his mobile phone.

In another case,   Nitish who was on way to Malpe to purchase fish in his bike was stopped near Diana Talkies at around 5 am and robbed of his cash of Rs 15,000 and mobile phone.

Later at 5.30 am,  Manipal Press employee Yatindra too was robbed in a similar fashion,. The  thieves even inflicted injuries on Yatindra who resisted.

Police who   checked some CCTV footages have realised that the same assailants were behind the three incidents. Special teams have been formed to nab the  culprits.
